seeing miracles and mice!

This week we had a day where we saw a total of 5 mice during lessons. In one occasion we were teaching and the mouse climbed into a mug. So the investigator put a lid over the mug and then the 3 friends of the poor trapped mouse came to try and get it out! Another one was just stealing corn kernels.

Another one we saw was in our house. oops....

Onto the week! This week we went to visit one of the little villages of our area! It was really strange, because just by travelling a few minutes in a bus, the people change SO MUCH. They are soooo nice. We need to work more out there! Or at least have a branch out there! The picture is of Hermana Cornelison and I looking out at the good view!

General Conference is coming up this weekend! This will be my 3rd time and I'm even more excited than the times in the past! I looooove being able to hear the prophet and get my investigators to do so as well! It's such a good time to receive revelation and get answers to our questions and doubts! Everyone watch it! It's sooooo good :D

Hermana Cornelison and I are having a blast. She helps me to be a better missionary and even though I'm technically the trainer in this companionship, she's the one who is training me! She's so so pilas and is going to do such great things in the mission. And she's hysterical. We pass all of our time walking talking about random stuff and quoting The District, a miniseries thing about missionaries!

Things are great! This change has ended, but in only 4 more weeks we'll end the next one! So, I have 4 weeks to enjoy my time here in freezing Patzicia and then we'll see where the Lord sends me!

Love you all sooooo much!

happy 15 de septiembre!

This week was crazy! A birthday, zone training, meeting Elder Ochoa and celebrating Independence day!

Hermana Cornelison and I expected to find a bunch of people selling flags and cool stuff, but no. Just a bunch of drunk guys who walk a little too close to be comfortable.. But everything turned out well! No problems at all (my newbie companion has yet to have a misfortunate run in with a drunk.)

We got to meet Elder Ochoa and THAT was amazing! He taught us so much in just a few short hours! I learned soooo much. One of the main things that he taught us is that the people who progress are the people that understand who we are representatives of. He told us to try asking a question to the people who reject us: "De quien piensa que somos enviados?" or "who do you think we are sent from?" We started to put it into action and usually they don't answer us.. and then close the door in our faces... but we know that they know that we are the LORD'S representatives.

Yesterday we had to give President Markham a call to let him know that we didn't meet the standards of excellence, even though we tried our best. The first thing he said to me was "Hermana, YOUR HEART IS PURE." And then he repeated it a few times. It was something that Hermana Cornelison and I had to get into our heads "We did our best, we will keep doing our best and we won't feel bad. We have pure hearts and clean hands." I love my mission president :)

This Friday we will have a meeting with all of the sisters in the mission. I am so excited! A great opportunity to see all of my friends and also receive training from President Markham!

Love you all so much! Stay strong, know that I know this is the truth and that's why I'm here with wet feet, freezing my face off and getting rejected in all kinds of ways all the time. And I would do it over again because it's SO WORTH IT.

With tons of love and lots of prayers,
Hermana Weatherford

Here's a picture we took in a part of our area last week. My companion is just the cutest thing ever :)

September 9 2014

here i am with my gorgeous amazing companion. (that's my daughter.) we bought banana splits and then today we're here in Panajachel in a brand new chapel!

Things are going great! we're working hard and using the lessons found in ALma 17:28-29 where Ammon responds to his struggles with "I will show forth my power". So that's what we're doing this week, using every challenge as an opportunity to show the Lord's power!

Love you all soooo much!

this week is the week of miracles!

LOTS of things happened in this past week! It's been crazy and awesome and hard at the same time!

Hermana Cisneros hurt her arm pulling water our of a well and I had to take care of her. She's doing a lot better now! Her tendon has almost completely healed!

Divisions. I went off to a place called Chimaltenango this week! I worked with a good friend of mine in the mission, Hermana Merrell. She's the best! She taught me so much, and even though it was a really hard day for her (she found out that the man she was going to baptize in a week wasn't legally married, got butt grabbed and fell in the mud and got reeeeally dirty), we laughed it off and had a fun time! We also put a couple goals so that I can "turn up the burners" so to speak. I wake up at 5:30 now every morning, we walk SUPER fast and contact lots of people and are working on putting diligence up to maximum speed! It was really good for me and will help me make the change in my mission that I need!

After that, Hermana Cisneros and I went out to one of our villages, went down an entire mountainside and found out that the family lived at the top. So we climbed ALL the way up and taught them quickly, then got out to the highway to find out that we had missed the last bus! So we had to walk back to town for 45 minutes at full speed! It was pretty rough. But the Lord was testing our diligence, and we passed the test!

After that, things with Hermana Cisneros got a little hard. I won't go into detail, but we had a few problems. It ended that Monday morning President Markham called to inform us that we would be having emergency changes.

So, this morning she went to a place called San Andres Itzapa. I'm still here and I recieved a sweet new missionary named Hermana Cornelison. She only has 2 weeks in the mission and is so diligent and positive! We're going to see so many miracles in this area together! she's so cute. And Hermana Cisneros is going to love being with Hermana Marroquin. She's going to be there with her for the next 4 weeks while Hermana Marroquin finishes her mission.

Today we have an area attack, so all of the missionaries from the stake are coming to help us knock all the doors and find all of the chosen ones in our area!

I love you all lots and I want you all to know that my companion and I are representatives of Jesus Christ. We testify that HE LIVES and He only guides one church in the whole world and this is His church. I know that with all of my heart. We have to go through struggles sometimes and that's just part of life. But if we give everything that we have, one day we'll be able to say to the Father "I wasn't perfect, but I did everything in my power. I did all I could." That's my goal and I hope that it's yours too.

With much love and a few pics...

drinking salsa. Hermana Cisneros didn't think I could do it, i proved her wrong.

a fresh pic from today! Hermana Cornelison, my new companion!

From August 26th

We're moving on in the change! Week 2 and all is going great!

We're still looking for that baptism that we need, but hey, the Lord will provide! Today we learned about patience and how incredibly important it is in our lives. I guess I already knew that it was important, just that I didn't want to have to go through the trials to develop it! But now I realized that we're already going through the trials, and that I should take advantage of this to learn more about patience!

Hermana Cisneros is learning really fast! Sometimes she forgets the basic things or thinks that she can't make a decision without me telling her what to do, but I just have to remind her that she already knows, she just needs to think some things through.

In the church we have a program, I guess you could call it, called Family Home Evening. Every Monday night the family gets together and they sing hymns and share a short message and play games and eat! A few weeks ago, my companion and I realized that we as missionaries aren't exempt from the Family Home Evening, so we began to do it! Yesterday was our 3rd time doing it and it's SO FUN! It's even better as a missionary :)

General Conference is coming up in October and I hope that everyone is getting ready! (i have a countdown on my calendar!) My companion and I are preparing ourselves spiritually by study about prophets and their importance and reading old conference talks!

I love you all SO MUCH! And pray for you every day!

With much love,
Hermana Weatherford
